Poverty Stereotypes
and how they keep us down
There
is lot of stereotypes that we see on the internet. There are stereotypes that
are geared for all types of races, and financial backgrounds. For a lot of
people it’s really funny but for in reality its one of the worst things that
this world has. Sometimes we make fun of other races because we have those same
problems like them. But since stereotypes exist even in politicians, they make
law around them to magnify the jokes that we see on the internet today. There
is a lot of separatism going on in the states, and we as a country are not
doing anything about it, because we are too selfish with each other we want
anything in the world. The rich people, the 1 percent is just like you and me,
they want everything that they have, and we bash them for it, but if we have
the same success, the same cars, the same houses, we would do the same thing in
order to keep having money. In a way we are sarcastic on what we say, or in
what we protest. We just want the same thing, and we get really salty when
other people get more success than we do. The media has some part to do with
it, it shows everybody how other people from lower classes are, and when they see
them on the street they don’t even spit at their direction, because of the
things they see in the media. “America is experiencing the highest rate of
long-term unemployment in a generation” (24) When the poor gets viewed in a
certain way, they don’t get no opportunities, they get shunned by everybody and
they just simply give up, and you just believe that maybe the people are right,
maybe you are what they say you are. There is the psychological effect in this
as well, they are so weak minded to the point that they cause more crimes, and
magnify that stereotype that other people see on face book, or you tube. When
they see a Latino on college, they think that they are not going to make it, or
that he might do an unnecessary major and go back the fields, people that come
from Hispanic countries they tend to just make money, and not pursue an
education for no reason. The reason for that is because they prefer to see
their sons and their daughters have the success, and just to save up for a
house and a car. When they see a Hispanic person, they tend to say that he
might be stupid, or its better that he picks oranges, or strawberries, but at
the same time those same stereotypes makes us better because then we can prove
them wrong. Right now since the people are falling into what the media says
about them, their morale decreases, they don’t want to look for jobs, or when
they do they can’t find one and give up easily. Then they rely on the
government to keep fueling their stereotype until it becomes a reality. Then
the economy will keep going to shit, and wonder why is the country is doing
really bad, because people just gave up on everything, the 1 percent just keep
draining the energy of the 99 percent, and they are just letting them do that
because they don’t know that you can beat them since we are more than them, we
can overcome them in every single way, they are not smart, they are just rich,
we are the ones that has creativity, and innovation.
“Don’t blame Wall Street, don’t blame the big
banks, Cain boasted.” if you don’t have a job and are not rich, blame yourself”
(82) like I said in other paragraph the only way to get rid of the stereotypes
is that you need to prove them wrong, and need to be creative, when the 1
percent know that you guys are formidable opponents and you guys can overcome
the rich people and equalize the wealth in the world, when a lot of people have
a lot of wealth the economy gets better, when the middle class can find more
jobs that work for the rich people, then the united states treasury will stop
making dollar bills, or not make dollars bills like that and the value will go
up. If the wealth gets equalized then the money that goes for food stamps and
ebt, it can go to schools, it can go to more beneficial stuff, but its too hard
to break the cycle, one of the methods to break the cycle is convince the 1
percent that its beneficial to use the people who needs jobs to work for them,
and to stabilize the economy, we can finally buy houses, we can buy cars
without car notes, we can go to college without taking loans, and we finally
live the life we always wanted, but just because the rich people want one more
mill we have to suffer, and I think that is bullshit. The media also has to
stop making other people think that they are like the people on the television,
and try to help each. It causes a psychological effect because since the media
is really popular people will want the certain type of clothing, or listen to a
certain type of music, so when they see shows like Maury or jerry Springer they
start acting the same way, or they do the same mistakes that people do on TV.
And it’s sad that the TV station takes advantage to make a lot of money, and
then they wash their hands, by putting UNICEF commercial of Typhoon Haiyan to
keep people watching the trash they see on the TV. The news also makes the
people think. The people watch the news and they make them trust the government
making them think that the government are good people but in reality they are
just like the 1 percent, and they go to them because they know they have the
money and cant rely on the lower classes to help raise, because media is the
best way to get them to win. It’s a win-win situation. But if we don’t give up
then we can beat them and stabilize the economy and be better people.
